Covenant Presbyterian, Long Beach, CA
Through the gracious cooperation of the Trustees, clergy and staff of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Long Beach, and the Director of Music Peter Bates, we are happy to bring this fine instrument to the Hauptwerk community.
The instrument was build by Aeolian Skinner in 1966. Opus 1458 encompasses 58 ranks over 5 divisions. Covenant Presbyterian was created by the merger of two churches, “Old” First Presbyterian and Calvary Presbyterian. "Old" First Presbyterian Church housed a Murray Harris organ. This instrument incorporates portions of the original Murray Harris instrument.
The instrument was renovated with a rebuilt console and a Festival Trumpet, along with several digital voices. The console is the original 1966 Aeolian Skinner console, rebuilt by Bob Turner in 1998.
This instrument is samples in 4 channel surround. THe front channels are sampled at 3m from the front of the chamber. The rear channels are 2/3 down the nave of the space in order to capture some of the wonderful acoustic of this Mid Century building. We have sampled all of the pipe ranks, and created our own digital extensions where appropriate. These digital extensions include the 32' bombarde and the 32' violone (from the Gt Gemshorn. The sample set was released a number of years ago, and is being re-released utilizing our latest improved noise reduction techniques. An upgrade price will be available for users of the original version.
Sliders allow a mix of any amount the front samples and the rear samples at the user's preference so the user can place themselves in the space as they desire.
Encryption
The samples are offered in 48kHz/24bit resolution, and feature up to 3 loops per sample, tremulants are sampled. The multiple releases have three levels: short, mid and long. The sample set is encrypted via the iLok system used in Hauptwerk, and requires HW version 5 or higher.
The sample set is offered in the Surround variant (4channels).
Reverb time
The reverb time is ca. 2~2.5 seconds.
Keyboards, pedalboard
The original compass of the keyboards is 61 keys, the original compass of the pedal division is 32 notes.
