Music of John Wilson

John Wilson_cropDr. John Wilson is a musician and composer living in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He has dedicated his life to the pursuit of music education and enrichment.  His Ph. D. was granted in 1998 by Union University in Cincinnati, Ohio where his dissertation, Vaudeville Theatre in a Major Southwest City, Oklahoma City, 1889 to 1932 , is considered to be the definitive chronicling and analysis of this American cultural phenomenon  during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.  He has additional doctoral work at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Oxford University, Oxford, England, Dartmouth University, Hanover, New Hampshire, the Smithsonian Institution, and Post Doctoral studies at St. Andrews University in Firth, Scotland. Wilson has been a diligent and committed student, professor, and performer in a wide variety of music venues. His credits include work with the Oklahoma Historical Society, Musician in Residence for historic Guthrie, Oklahoma, and teaching experience that spans pre-k through  university venues. His awards and honors include the Oklahoma State Historical Society recognition of Dissertation, Pinnacle National Academic Honor Society,  recognition by Kappa Delta Psi Education Honor Society, Kappa Kappa Psi Honor Band Fraternity, various historical societies, and two Gubernatorial Commendations for service to the State of Oklahoma.
